This innovative and challenging dual degree programme is designed to equip students for new global economic challenges in the next decade. Students will study for two economics bachelor programmes in CUHK and Tsinghua University and each student is expected to complete some internship training during the time at Tsinghua University. The CUHK programme offers a comprehensive and all-round training in economics covering numerous important international economic issues. The Tsinghua programme offers added variety in several fields of economics and an in-depth knowledge of the Chinese economy and its financial market. These two programmes in this DDP complement each other and equip their students with an international perspective as well as the necessary analytical tools and knowledge to launch their careers related to the Chinese economy. The medium of instruction of major courses would be English. It is expected that the study body of this programme to be very diverse and international. Together with the unique study pattern of this programme, students will develop a rich and global personal network that would be rewarding for their personal career aspirations.

  • 1. What contribution to the field does this Programme make?

    In this innovative Dual Degree Programme, students will study economics at both CUHK and Tsinghua University. The CUHK Programme offers a comprehensive, all-round training in economics covering many important international economic issues. The Tsinghua Programme offers added variety in several advanced fields of economics. These two Programmes in this DDP will complement each other well and equip students with an international perspective as well as the necessary analytical tools and knowledge to careers requiring sophisticated economic analyses.

  • 2. How does the Programme address the quest for new knowledge / skills and meet the society’s manpower needs?

    The rich variety of required and elective courses will equip students with the necessary numerical/quantitative tools needed for advanced economic research and analysis. The Programme requires students to spend half of the study period in Beijing, enabling them to develop a richer understanding of the various economic issues of the Chinese economy and financial market. This knowledge has become desirable in many of the important high-skill jobs around the world today.

    This Programme requires students to spend half of the study period in Tsinghua University. Each student is expected to complete some internship training during his/her time at Tsinghua University.
